Jim Oehrig, M.A., Chief Program Officer
Jim Oehrig is no stranger to the challenges of international health work, disaster relief and community development. After nearly two decades in Latin America, first with World Relief and later MAP International, he joined the American Leprosy Missions team in 2005. To date, he has worked in more than 40 different countries.
As Chief Program Officer, Oehrig manages American Leprosy Missions’ vital partnerships with entities such as the World Health Organization and ILEP, The International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations. He strives to build consortia with other organizations and missions while overseeing the development, monitoring and evaluation of partnerships, programs and projects. Oehrig works closely with American Leprosy Missions’ world-renowned field staff to facilitate programs and projects around the world.
A graduate of Houghton College, Oehrig went on to earn a Master of Arts in Latin American studies/international development from the University of Connecticut. He also did post-graduate work at the Centre for Development Studies at Swansea University, Wales in the United Kingdom.
