December 20: Anita’s Story

When Anita’s husband and family found out she had leprosy, she was thrown out of the house, with no belongings, and nowhere to go. She then lost her baby and her heart nearly broke. Meanwhile, the deformity in her hands had increased so much that Anita could no longer hold anything — that’s when she came to our partner hospital.

Friends like YOU provided the extensive reconstructive surgery Anita needed, and skilled surgeons were able to restore most of the normal function of her hands. She even learned to sew, read, and write — and to pray. Is Jesus calling you to bless someone else like Anita who desperately needs reconstructive surgery?

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29)
