American Leprosy Missions Announces Program Team Restructure

(Greenville, S.C., March 9, 2020) — The United States’ leading anti-leprosy organization has made changes to its program team leadership structure. Stefanie Weiland has been promoted to executive vice president of programs. In this new role she will oversee all of the programs at American Leprosy Missions and the AIM Initiative. Her energy and expertise will continue the drive for constant improvement in program strategy and design toward achieving the organization’s mission. Accompanying this change, Jim Oehrig’s role has shifted to vice president of integral mission and regional programs. In addition to his work with integral mission, he will now ensure the continued success of American Leprosy Missions’ programs in Africa and Asia, working with regional directors George Gitau and Dr. Sunil Anand. Darren Schaupp’s role now focuses on research and innovation. As vice president of innovation and ventures, he will oversee the leprosy vaccine and other pioneering research and will foster exploration of potential new ventures. “I am excited about the way this structure will help us accomplish our mission,” says Bill Simmons, president and CEO. “Stefanie has a successful track record of scaling international programs and managing diverse teams.
